The Huzak Family

The story of Ribič is closely tied to the Huzak family name. In 1966, our grandpa Branko Huzak bought a small tavern for our grandma Marija - a modest place called 'Krčna', which soon welcomed its first guests and began a family story that lives on today.

Their son, Božo Huzak, born into a family of a passionate hunter and nature lover, inherited his mother’s love for cooking. Although he loved nature, forests, and mountains, his true calling was in the kitchen. For years he experimented with flavors, refined his skills, and perfected the recipes passed down from his mother, creating the distinctive culinary signature of Restaurant Ribič. Božidar’s mother, Štefica, was the warm heart of the restaurant - always greeting guests at the door with a smile and offering a glass of homemade wine while they waited for their table.

When Božidar Huzak took over the restaurant in 2010, he continued in his father’s footsteps - preserving tradition while adding a modern touch. Together with his wife Maja and their sons Deon, Dillion, and Delon, who have been learning the hospitality craft from an early age, Ribič remains a true family project to this day.

For the Huzak family, Ribič has never been just a business. It is part of their identity - a bridge between generations and proof that good food, love, and tradition can last for decades. It will be our pleasure to welcome you!
